First of all Joe, I just want to thank you for taking your time to do this interview.
1. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself? Your name, age, location, hobbies, etc.
Hi. I’m Joe Heskett, and I am 16 years old. I live in a small, historical, town in [West] Kent, England. I am currently studying A/S A-Levels (ICT, Mathematics, History, Business and Economics) in the Sixth Form at Weald of Kent Grammar School. When I am not studying, or working on achieving my Cisco CCNA qualification, I am visiting NamePros.com, spending time with my friends, going to the cinema, reading, or dealing with my range of online responsibilities.
2. At the age of 14, you decided to start FusedHosting.net. What inspired you to do this at such a young age?
FusedHosting.net was founded in December 2006, with a single dedicated server. Jack (my twin brother) and I had an existing interest in the hosting market as we had owned a personal cPanel Reseller account with a friend and were running a free web hosting site called SyXe.com. At the end of October, Jack and I have been registered on NamePros.com for 3 years. Before Fused Hosting was set up we saw many web hosts come and go, and some providing a low quality service. From already being involved with the NamePros community in a variety of ways, we had come to know that the members of the community deserved better – and so Fused Hosting was created. Our inspiration is stemmed from our respect for fellow NamePros members and webmasters across the globe – age does not matter in the growing economy that is the Internet, the barriers of age are nonexistent because people of all ages have skill and motivation.
3. What does an average day look like for you?
An average day consists of waking up, turning off my alarm clock and going back to bed again. During the week I’ll then get up, do the usual morning activities; eat breakfast, get dressed, brush teeth, etc. I then spend the next 8 hours at school, which is good fun generally. While I’m at school I’ll be constantly checking Fused Hosting support tickets, and dealing with any requests. When I finally get home, I usually just chill, listen to some music, and chat. If I’m involved in any projects, I’ll work on them; for example working on a design, programming or any administration tasks I need to complete.
4. FusedHosting.net now has almost completely captured the NamePros community. It seems that most users have some affiliation with you. How did you brand this so well in the NamePros community?
For nearly two years now, providing the NamePros community with a high quality hosting service has been our business aim – we have set aside the restriction of using PayPal or Credit Card as our only payment solution, we accept NP$ (the forum currency) as an enticement for members to post and be active on a community that is recognised for many positive attributes.
5. Just at the age of 16, you have accomplished to start a successful business built on a strong business foundation. What do you think got you where you are today?
Determination and the support of others. One of the key factors to a successful business is “word of mouth,” and due to the support of our first clients Fused Hosting managed to build up a successful client base and reputation.
7. What are your future plans for FusedHosting.net?
FusedHosting.net has recently launched its very own shoutcast and proxy hosting packages. Our current aims are to continue to look for new skilled partners, expand to new forums and communities, continue to support charity events and work on SEO. We have a lot more planned and organized, but it looks like you are going to have to keep checking FusedHosting.net for more information!
